Dear Friends of the Charismatic Renewal,

The Lord keeps telling me that 2021 is going to be a very busy year for the Renewal.  I am anxious to see what He does.

With God’s help, WOCCR is planning two events this year.

The first is a Day of Renewal with Fr. Tim Furlow.  It will be virtual as we are still not out of the woods with COVID-19.  Many of you watch the Holy Mass via Facebook or U-Tube streaming and that is what we plan here.  The date is April 24, 2021.  And probably from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  There will be a break for lunch as usual.  The theme is Metanoia/Conversion.  Music will be provided by Dawn and David Bentz.

Fr. Furlow was born in 1982 and went to the Franciscan University of Steubenville from 2004 – 2007.  During those years he was part of the core team of their prayer group.  Most recently, he was the Parochial Vicar at the Cathedral parish and now the Pastor at St. Patrick’s Church in Portland, OR.

There is still planning to do on this and I will update you as I get new information.

The Second event will be with Shalomworld, which is a group from India who minister all over the world.  They have been in this area before, once at Our Lady of Peace Retreat Center in McMinnville, OR and once at Mt Angel Seminary, Mt. Angel, OR.  This group is committed to witnessing the Gospel, fostering discipleship, and equipping individuals to engage in the mission of the new Evangelization through a new Pentecost.  We have not pinned down the dates yet but it will be in the Fall.  This one could be both virtual and in person.  It will depend on the COVID-19 situation.  You can read about this ministry and those involved in it at shalommedia.org.

We will not be offering Healing Masses this year for the obvious reason but you can go to shalommedia.org and click on the ‘Jesus Heals’ site.  They offer on-line Healing Masses every Friday.

Dr. Ralph Martin

MARK YOUR CALENDARS because on September 23-24, 2022, Ralph Martin from Renewal Ministries will be presenting a Day and a half mini Conference here in the Portland Area.  We have not selected a location but it will be an in-person event and we will be asking all those interested to preregister.  We are working to have that capability on our website by this summer or before.  So please mark your calendars.

Ralph Martin is the president of Renewal Ministries and the host of the weekly Catholic television program: “The Choices We Face”.  He holds a doctorate in theology and is the director of Graduate Theology Programs in the New Evangelization at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Detroit, MI.  Ralph is also the author of the widely read: “A Church in Crisis: Pathways Forward” and “The Fulfillment of All Desire: A Guidebook for the Journey to God, based on the Wisdom of the Saints”.
