COVID-19 and People

Dear Friends in the Charismatic Renewal.

Changes Caused by the Coronavirus

Have you ever had a project to do and kept putting it off because you didn’t know what to say or how to do it?  And then months later, something happens, and you realize that it just wasn’t time to do that project. It was a God thing. Well that is what this information letter turned out to be.

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic there are things we cannot do to remain safe. There are also many services being cancelled, temporarily. If you have not seen it, I am enclosing a letter from Archbishop Sample, dated April 6, 2020.

It made me tear up.

Update:

On April 6, 2020 Archbishop Sample sent out two letters, one in English and one in Spanish, that extended the cancellation of many of the Church services for an indefinite period of time.

Things we can do.

Please pray the Mass readings and watch or listen to the Mass from home.  We can still receive spiritual communion until we come together again.

Our liaison, Fr Chuck Wood wants us to know that there are things we can do.

We need to keep things in perspective. For those of you who are in Prayer groups, please consider meeting via teleconference. This is not a new idea.  Groups of people who live large distances from each other have been doing this for years. If interested, one option is to go to FreeConference.com. It really is free. And pray, pray, pray.

Planned Events

WOCCRS has several events planned for this summer. They start in late July. So, we are praying that things are back to normal by then. We had planned a big event for April/May that fell through. Another God thing. He prevented us from getting too far into that plan and have to cancel it later.

So, our schedule will include two healing Masses.  One with Fr. Theo Lange on Friday, July 24, 2020 at St Patrick’s in Canby; and, one on September 25, 2020 with Fr. Odo Recker at St Anthony’s in Tigard.

Fr. Tim Furlow will be our presenter for the Day of Renewal on October 10, 2020.  The theme is Metanoia-A deeper conversion to the Lord Jesus Christ.  We have not reserved a place but hope to soon.  I will send out flyers soon

These events will be free with the usual free will donation either at the collection or sometime during the day.

I will certainly let you know if our summer plans change due to the virus. Please keep us in your prayers and know that God is with you and protecting you all the time. Have faith as this too will pass and we will be stronger for it.

God Bless you,

Jackie Morgan, Chair
