Mini-Conference with Dr. Ralph Martin
Newsletter: What a beautiful ceremony it was. The WOCCR Team and St. Edward's Staff wish to thank everyone who participated in the Ralph Martin Conference held on September 23-24, 2022. We wish to thank Bishop Smith for celebrating the opening Mass along with Deacons Leo Rasca and Del DeSart and the Knights of Columbus. The music team, Sonset Worship, graced us with their Holy Spirit talent and gifts during the Mass and throughout the conference. Dina Marie Hale a wonderfully gifted radio host was the Emcee. She did a fantastic job this weekend.
Request for Prayer and Volunteers
Newsletter: Last night the WOCCR Service Team met to work out some of the outstanding items needed to put on the Ralph Martin conference. One item discussed was the very few numbers of registrants. The Conference is five weeks out and only 18 people have registered as of this date. Our other concern is a lack of volunteers. We need help in a number of areas: setting up and tearing down; someone to sit at Ralph’s book table during breaks; etc. Please note that volunteering would not impact the ability to watch the conference. We also need eucharistic ministers for the Mass and ushers.
Eulogy — Yvonne Krill
Newsletter: Yvonne Krill was a Spirit-filled, faithful vessel of God’s Word, artistic, caring, kind, loving, and graceful dancer. A true gift to us all. These are just a few of the words friends and family use to describe Yvonne Krill, who ascended to Heaven Friday, March 4, 2022, after being diagnosed with lymphoma, nine months prior. She was a devout member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Lake Oswego, OR and helped with many programs including Grade School, Sunday School, Catechism and Marriage classes. Yvonne was invited by a Nun to attend a prayer meeting which sparked Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the charismatic renewal that became the bedrock of her life.
Healing
Newsletter: We are pleased to announce a number of events that are planned for this year. They include: School of Healing; Healing Service; two Healing Masses this Summer; and a Mini-Conference with Ralph Martin. Here are the current details on these events. Please see the events page for updated information. Mark you calendar and plan to attend.Jesus promised, “These signs will accompany those who believe…They will lay hands on the sick and they will recover”(Mark 16:17-18). Jesus has called us to do what he did, and that includes healing the sick. The Encounter School of Healing is a two-day conference to teach, impart and activate Catholics to be a more effective minister of Jesus’ healing in the world! Jesus wants to use you as an instrument of his divine healing. Are you going to give him the chance?
Liturgical Year 2021
Update
Newsletter: One of the strengths, and indeed the beauty, of Catholicism that we can embrace different expressions of our faith. Many people find that expression within the context of a parish community, while others find it within what we call ecclesial communities. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) is one such community. The CCR, however, is not a single community, but rather a variety of entities which have formed for different purposes, such as evangelization, prayer, service, worship, healing, catechesis, and youth ministry. What unites these various groups is that at the heart of every group, and every member, is the desire to draw on the graces that flow from the Holy Spirit — described by the term, “Baptism in the Holy Spirit”.
Spiritual Encouragement
Newsletter: Brothers and sisters: What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through him who loved us. (Romans 8:35, 37 The rousing declaration above, “… we conquer overwhelmingly,” is likely more familiar as, “… we are more than conquerors.”
Renewal
Newsletter: With God’s help, WOCCR is planning two events this year. The first is a Day of Renewal with Fr. Tim Furlow. It will be virtual as we are still not out of the woods with COVID-19. Many of you watch the Holy Mass via Facebook or U-Tube streaming and that is what we plan here. The date is April 24, 2021. Mark your calendar for the second event. Ralph Martin from Renewal Ministries will be presenting a Day and a half mini Conference here in the Portland Area onon September 23-24, 2022.

Daniel Fast
Newsletter: Glory to God who is all good and deserving of all our love and praise. We are in his hands and he is in control. All we have to do is seek his face and everything will fall into place in his time. The pandemic and the riots will pass. Nothing is permanent in this life but God. Most of us are staying home and out of harm’s way due to age or health. It is a perfect time to be enriching our lives with online LIS seminars, daily you tube videos, live streaming conferences and prayer meetings via Go to Meeting.com, Zoom.com, FreeConferencecall.com, etc. Another great practice is to perform a Daniel Fast.
Eulogy — Caroline Doering
Newsletter: It is with much sorrow that I have to tell you that our beloved friend of so many years has gone home to the Lord. She will ever be remembered as a Holy, Godly person who never met an anyone she didn’t love, mentor, teach, pastor and support. I was no exception. She picked me up at my first Life in the Spirit Seminar (LIS) at St Henry’s in Gresham, OR, in 1989. She was part of the Core Team putting this LIS on and not even really knowing me, charged me with heading up the music ministry for an upcoming Healing Mass. I had been in choirs most of my life but never as a cantor. She absolutely assured me that I could do it. That was how it began.
COVID-19 Changes Plans
Newsletter: Because of the Pandemic, people are having to do things a little differently. This can be a real gift, if you look at that way. For instance, many of our prayer groups are very small -- too small really, to be able to conduct a Life in the Spirit (LIS) seminar without help. The Ark and the Dove Retreat Center (where the Catholic Charismatic Renewal began in 1967), is offering an online LIS for free, beginning May 24, 2020. It will not be lived streamed but recorded and put on their website (YouTube and Facebook).
Coronavirus Changes
Newsletter: Have you ever had a project to do and kept putting it off because you didn’t know what to say or how to do it? And then months later, something happens, and you realize that it just wasn’t time to do that project. It was a God thing. Well that is what this information letter turned out to be. In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic there are things we cannot do to remain safe. There are also many services being cancelled, temporarily. If you have not seen it, I am enclosing a letter from Archbishop Sample, dated April 4, 2020.
Liturgical Year 2019

Report: Fr. Privonka’s “Encounter Jesus in the Power of the Spirit”
Newsletter: On June 1, 2019, Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR came to Portland, OR with the message that "God Loves Us." Now we already know that, but Fr. Dave showed us how that affects us personally. For instance, we all know that we are adopted children of God. However, did you know that because you are adopted that makes you special? Much more so than a natural child. In the 1st century, a parent could do anything they wanted to a natural child; they could expose them after birth (abortion) they could send them to an orphanage, sell them or keep them. But an adopted child could not be abused in any way. Their reasoning was that they did not have a choice about natural children, but when you adopt a child, you do something on purpose -- something that you want -- and once you’ve signed on the bottom line, you can never go back. Our Father chose us on purpose to be his children and he will never let us go.

We are also very happy to announce that Dina Marie Hale former Program Director and Morning Show host for KBVM now Mater Dei radio will be our Master of Ceremonies

Report on Healing Mass
Newsletter: If you attended the Healing Mass on May 25th with Fr Justus Kizza at St Joseph’s Church in Vancouver, WA, then you know that was a very blessed time. Beginning at 7:00 pm and ending at 11:00 pm, the Mass was beautiful and the praise and worship by Greg Stone and several of his friends was perfect, Fr. Justus celebrated the Mass with Fr. Chuck Wood concelebrating. All in the church came up for prayer after the Mass. It was a very holy time in which several people were healed, and many friendships strengthened.
